Butterflies, dragons, teddy bears, birds and sharks and a wide variety of other kites will take to the skies at this year’s Kites Over the Mersey event. A great family day out, this is our third appearance at this International festival. Kite flyers from all over the world will be giving spectacular displays of giant inflatable kites, stunt kites and art kites. The V4C team will be holding our ever popular kite workshops in the Big White Marquee where children of all ages can make, design and fly their very own kites! When Kevin's son Hamish was born with rare blinding eye condition, he was immediately referred to Alder Hey Children’s hospital, Liverpool for specialist treatment.
Thankfully Hamish’s sight was restored although he still needs regular checkups, treatment and examinations under anaesthetic. As yet the outcome of how much vision Hamish will have is still unknown.
Having never been a runner, Kevin committed in August 2010 to a gruelling regime of running a marathon a week for 52 weeks. He hopes to raise money and the profile of Vision4Children
Due to his courage, commitment and enthusiasm we have nominated Kevin to become one of the Olympic Torch Bearers, as we believe that he is a shining example and a source of inspiration to all budding athletes of what can be achieved if you put your heart and soul into something.
He is now over half way through his marathon year and remains unperturbed by his target to finish in August 2011 with a final marathon run that ends at the Alder Hey’s eye department.

Wirral Way Rotary Walk
A leisure walk to raise money for own charities. There is a registration fee of £5 an adult & £1 a child.
The walk itself is from Hooton to Thurstaston or vice versa; a total of 9 miles, with staging posts at Hadlow Road Willaston and at Parkgate - which is half way point.
