Welcome to Vision 4 Children (The Littler Trust)
Vision 4 Children is the only international charitable organisation with the solely working towards eliminating global childhood blindness and visual impairment and supporting parents and carers. We aim:
• to develop and support an international web-based parent and child vision support and information group
• to reduce childhood blindness through sustainable outcome-based programmes of teaching and training
• to improve management of childhood blindness by effective clinical research in treatable and avoidable blinding eye diseases
We are working towards this vision by 'flying a kite for children's sight'.

Why we need to do this work. Here are some facts
• A child goes blind every minute.
• Currently, 1.4 million children are blind and the number is growing.
• Half of this blindness is preventable or treatable.
• The commonest cause of treatable childhood blindness is cataract.
• Worldwide, childhood blindness leads to 70 million blind person years.
• The worldwide economic impact of childhood blindness was estimated at £7 billion lost earnings in the year 2000
• This is predicted to rise to £16 billion by year 2020. There is a need for change. We believe that change is possible. We need your help.
We believe that no child should needlessly be blind and all children have a right to sight through work that helps them achieve the best vision possible and that all children with visual impairment have the right to education, support and encouragement to achieve their goals.
